Maridel Martinez started working in BISD in 1979 when she taught at Clute Elementary.  She has also been a bilingual teacher both at Ogg and at Griffith and a Reading Recovery teacher at SF Austin.  This is her first year at Polk and says she loves it.  She has been married for 30 years and has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. She graduated from Bellaire HS in Houston and received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from University of Houston.   Maridel was born in Cuba but has not been there since she was 3.  She would like to go back and visit some time.
