HISTORY and
LOCATION
Stephen F. Austin
Elementary School is located on the land which was originally
Peach Point Plantation owned by Emily Austin Perry, sister to
Stephen F. Austin. The school is one mile from the Gulf Prairie
Cemetery where Stephen F. Austin was originally buried.
The school is located
just off of state highway 36 in Jones Creek, Texas on Stephen F.
Austin Road. The country setting makes a wonderful, peaceful
learning environment for the students.
GOALS
There are many goals
teachers and administrators would like to achieve with our
students. At the campus level we strive to assure that every
child learns the curriculum set up by the District and State. We
also try to prepare all students for the experience they will
encounter at the Intermediate level. Our ultimate goal is to
nurture students into productive, prepared, and highly functional
citizens.
MISSION
We strongly believe that
all children can learn, given the proper time and resources. We
assess, re-teach if necessary, provide enrichment, conduct daily
maintenance, and continually monitor and adjust to ensure quality
learning.
MASCOT
Our school mascot is the
alligator. In 1989 an 11 foot alligator visited our campus. The
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department captured the alligator and
removed it from the school yard. Click here to see the photo and story from the Brazosport Facts.
SCHOOL COLORS
Our school colors are a
mixture of green from the alligator, and red / blue from our high
schools.
