art 1 None      Art I is a full year fundamentals course for any student who has not had art at the high school level. It covers basic theory with emphasis on the elements and principles of art. Art appreciation, criticism, and aesthetics are included, but the emphasis is on art production.
     Beginning drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture techniques are introduced using a variety of media. Students are expected to provide some of their own supplies.
Drawing II, III, IV Art 1 and teacher approval      Building on the foundation of Art I, students will create original works using a wide variety of media including pencil, charcoal, pastels, ink and brush. In addition to a performance evaluation, students will investigate historical periods and styles. The student will furnish
some supplies.
Painting II, III, IV Art 1 and teacher approval      Building on the foundation of Art I, students will plan and create their own paintings with various techniques and media. In addition to a performance evaluation, students will investigate historical periods and styles. The student will furnish some supplies.
Sculpture II, III, IV Art 1 and teacher approval      Building on the foundation of Art I, students will plan and create their own sculptures with various techniques and media. In addition to a performance evaluation, students will investigate historical periods and styles. The student will furnish some supplies.

Grades 11-12
     The Drawing Portfolio is designed to address a very broad interpretation of drawing issues and media. Many works of painting, printmaking, and mixed media, as well as abstract, observational, and inventive works may qualify. This is a fast paced course designed for the serious art student. Students are expected to submit a completed portfolio of 27 quality works to the College Board at the end of the year in order to receive a weighted
grade.

2D Portfolio
Teacher Approval.
Grades 11-12
     This portfolio is intended to address a broad interpretation of two-dimensional (2D) design issues. This could include, but is not limited to, graphic design, typography, digital imaging, photography, collage, fabric design, illustration, painting, printmaking, etc. This is a fast paced course for students with a strong interest in art. Students are enrolled upon nomination by a visual art specialist. They are required to submit a portfolio of 27 quality pieces of art to the College Board at the end of the year to obtain a weighted grade.

3D Portfolio
Teacher Approval     This portfolio is intended to address a broad interpretation of sculptural issues in depth and space. A variety of approaches might include
traditional sculpture, ceramics, fiber or metal work among others. This is a fast paced course for self-motivated students with a strong interest in sculpture. Students are enrolled upon nomination by a visual art specialist. They are expected to submit a portfolio to the
College Board at the end of the year to obtain a weighted grade.
