Web Mastering is a Technology Application
course that teaches students the art of web design. They learn how to use many
computer programs that include:
Graphics:
Students will start out learning foundation
computers terms and Internet terms, then they will move on to learning how to
use certain graphic software and make a number of graphics, including a
"Fruit Face".
HTML:
After learning how to use the graphic
programs, the students move on to learning how to do
HTML. They take it slow and start out learning
basic tags and move on to more difficult ones later. They build on to their
knowledge with individual short assignments until they know many of the HTML
tags. By the end of the first semester, the students will create a website
using nothing but HTML.
Web Authorizing Tools:
After HTML, the students learn how to use
Web Authorizing tools such as
Microsoft FrontPage. This program helps the student develop the web site
quicker. The students will have to do a series of short assignments in FrontPage
and then design an original web page in it.
Other Programs and Skills:
Later in the year,
the students learn how to use Javascript and DHTML (Dynamic HTML) in their web
sites to make web pages interactive. New this year, students will also
learn Macromedia Flash and Dreamweaver MX.
