Juniors and Seniors, you can start earning college credit before graduating from
high school. Brazosport College enrolls eligible high school students through
the Early Enrollment Program, allowing them to take up to two college courses
per semester while in high school.
Students earn both high
school and college credit by taking classes at Brazosport College campus either
during school hours (first of last period) or in the evening. Internet courses
also are available. At Brazosport High School some classes are offered on the
high school campus.
Students may also take
college classes for college credit only.
Students reap many benefits
by taking college classes:
-
Earn both high school and
college credit with one class
-
Save money by earning
college credit at a much reduced cost compared to a four year college or
university
-
Begin the transition to
college through valuable experience with college life and responsibilities
A
list of courses
approved for dual credit may be found in the
BISD Course Selection Guide and the
BISD/BC Dual credit/Concurrent Enrollment Handbook, available in the Guidance
Office at each high school campus. Interest students should consult with their
guidance counselor and with Mrs. Phillips, the BC/BISD shared counselor, at the
high school. Students enrolled in the dual credit program are responsible for
the total cost of tuition, fees, and books. Scholarships and grants are
available for students who are enrolled in a minimum of three college credit
hours per semester. For information, contact the Brazosport College Financial
Aid Department.
For more
information see the
BISD Course Selection Guide or contact
the Guidance Office at your high school.
