SECTION VII
Article I-Demerit System for the School Year
A.
Defined as a system of penalties
for certain infringements of rules and regulations.
B.
May be issued by the director or
the Military or Social Officers with the director’s approval.
C.
Members MAY be warned for up to three (3) infringements that constitute one (1)
demerit at the discretion of the director. These warnings are cumulative for
the entire year.
D.
An accumulation of five (5)
demerits in one semester will result in dismissal.
E.
Demerits become void at the end of
the semester, except in the case of dismissal and tardiness. Summer counts as
one semester.
F.
Member may be given one
opportunity per semester to “work off” demerits at the discretion and
convenience of the director.
Article II-Demerits
A.
Infringements which will result in
five (5) demerits.
1.
Stealing
2.
Fighting
3.
Suspension from school
4.
Possession or use of alcohol,
tobacco, or drugs in Belle uniforms or on school ground or sponsored trips.
(see Section III, Article III, B)
B.
Infringements which will result in
two and one-half (2 ½) demerits:
1.
Leaving an activity without
permission.
2.
Nonattendance at a required
activity without an excusable absence approved prior to event.
3.
Use of loud or profane language.
4.
Improper care of uniform.
5.
Assignment to Central School, ISS,
or Saturday D-hall for disciplinary reasons.
C.
Infringements which will result in
one (1) demerit:
1.
Failure to give demerit.
2.
Failure to participate in events.
3.
Failure to wear proper uniform
(including hair, make-up, jewelry, etc.)
4.
Unnecessary talking or moving on
field or in practice.
5.
Chewing gum at practice or
performance.
6.
Eating or drinking at improper
time.
7.
Not handing in costumes, money, or
other items on time.
D.
The number of demerits for the
following infringements will be at the discretion of the director.
1.
Insubordination
2.
Any action which the director
feels constitutes a penalty (including assignment to d-hall).
Article III-Tardiness
A.
Tardies of less than five (5)
minutes
1.
# 1-3: will be recorded in roll
book and demerit record as “free” tardies.
2.
# 4-6: will be recorded in roll
book and demerit book as “warnings”.
3.
# 7 and more: will be recorded in
roll book and member will receive a permanent demerit.
B.
Tardiness of five minutes or more
will result in the member receiving a permanent demerit.
C.
Tardies are cumulative for the
entire year.
