Statement: According to Dictionary.com, cacophony is the use of harsh or
discordant sounds in literary composition, as for poetic effect. The
dissonance created by a cacophony might be used as a metaphor by high school
students to describe their lives. With that in mind, we have created
Cacophony,
an online magazine of literature and art produced by the high school students of
Brazosport ISD. Our editorial board is made up of students from both high
schools who select and publish the work of their peers in this twice-yearly
journal. The mission of this magazine is to provide a place for students
to use their creativity to help make some sense of the cacophony that is their
