Cell Phone Use During Testing
Students in Brazosport ISD and across the state take
the state-mandated assessments, TAKS and SDAA II. Please be advised
that the use of cell phones or other unauthorized electronic devices
in the testing environment is not allowed and may result in
invalidation of the test document and/or disciplinary action. The
Texas Education Agency has stated, “Students are not permitted to have
cell phones turned on during testing. Districts are required to
develop and implement procedures preventing the use of cell phones
during test administrations.”
Brazosport Independent School
District will ensure that cell phones and other unauthorized
electronic devices are not in use during the administration of these
tests. At the beginning of the test sessions each day, students will
be directed by the classroom test administrator to turn off
unauthorized electronic devices, such as cell phones, for the duration
of all testing at the campus. All such electronic devices must
remain off during the hours of test administration on the campus.
This includes areas outside the testing room such as restrooms,
cafeteria, etc. Any emergency messages to your son or daughter should
be directed to the campus office. Students who use any
function of the phone or other electronic device (verbal
communication, text messaging, calculator functions, etc.) during the
designated testing period may have their tests invalidated and will
face disciplinary action.
Your help in relaying the
importance of this message is greatly appreciated.
