Schneider Electric awarded Brazosport Independent School District their Lasting Legacy Award. This honor is presented only to top-performing public partners who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to energy initiatives that have produced sustained impacts over time.

Rebecca Kelley, Chief Finance and Governmental Affairs Officer states that “Brazosport ISD is honored to have our energy efficiency efforts recognized. We believe collaborative partnerships are vital to strengthening the learning experience.”

Key components of the district wide energy efficiency program included:

  • Replacing the building automation systems
  • Adding occupancy sensors
  • Retrofitting interior and exterior lighting
  • Modifying water fixtures
  • Installing water well irrigation systems
  • Upgrading mechanical equipment and controls

Through our partnership with Schneider Electric, BISD developed a program that helped to reduce the average annual energy usage by 36%, generating more than $3.2 million in energy savings over the life of the program.“This project demonstrates our commitment to taxpayers to operate efficiently and maximize resources available for quality educational experiences,” said Kelley.

The program has also had a sizable environmental impact by providing efficiency savings equivalent to removing 5,505 cars from the road, planting 30,280 acres of new trees or removing 25,708 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Schneider presented BISD with a $1,000 scholarship during the district’s October board meeting.
