Brazosport ISD schools along with schools across the United States joined together this year in the Jump Rope for Heart campaign, It Takes HEART to be a HERO!
Students that participate in the program learn about heart health and making better choices for a healthier lifestyle.
This year A.P. Beutel Elementary students and staff set an all time record for money raised at $16,431. Many of the Beutel students also took the zoo crew challenge to earn badges. The challenge consisted of being physically active for 60 minutes every day, choosing water over sugary drinks, and/or eating at least one serving of fruit or vegetable at every meal.
The grade level fundraiser leaders were:
KG-Jaylen Woodard $435
1st-Madison Resecker $1,057
2nd-Kersh Parker $467
3rd-Giana Crawley $325
4th-Emma Laurel $239
All proceeds go to the American Heart Association an organization dedicated to helping reduces the number of people dying from heart disease and stroke. According to Chris Hutchison, “Some of our students benefit directly from The Heart Association and all of our students learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle and giving back to your community.”
Brazosport ISD has 10 campuses that participated this year and raised donations for The American Heart Association.
