Brazosport ISD Child Nutrition Services held a contest to give students the opportunity to #BakeSomeoneHappy. Students were asked to bake something to share with someone to show their appreciation or make them smile, and post a photo on Twitter along with the hashtag #BakeSomeoneHappy.
“We were overwhelmed with the number of responses and the incredible display of gratitude and service to the community,” said Rachel Arthur, BISD Child Nutrition Director. “We are so proud of our students that posted photos of their wonderful dishes.”
Students made deliveries to local police stations, fire department, sheriff's office, army recruiters, nursing homes and many more. A panel of judges selected Allie Salazar, a first grader at Beutel Elementary as the winner. She was awarded a Chromebook and a basket full of culinary tools to continue her passion of baking.
Allie’s mom said that she really enjoys baking and this experience was so fun that “...it will be a family tradition from now on.”
