This is the image for the news article titled BISD Providing Informational Sessions Regarding Sex Trafficking Every year thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers in their own countries and abroad. Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit, or destination for victims. Houston, the fourth largest city in the nation, is considered the number one hub of human and sex trafficking in the United States. With the Brazosport area’s close proximity to Houston and with recent news stories regarding issues with trafficking in our area, Brazosport ISD has partnered with Mrs. Kerri Taylor and the organization “Unbound Houston” to offer an awareness program on this topic at our two high schools.

On May 8, 2017 at 6:30 PM in the Lake Jackson Civic Center Ballroom, a community presentation will be held to inform parents and community members of the sex trafficking problem in our area of Texas. The presentation will also provide parents and community members an opportunity to hear and review this information and ask questions prior to the student assemblies that are scheduled for May 15th (Brazosport) and May 16th (Brazoswood).

Should parents wish to opt out of having their students participate in the assembly, they should contact the campus principal’s office.

Opt out forms will need to be turned in to the appropriate person by the day prior to the scheduled assemblies.
