This year’s theme is “Teachers Deliver.” And they do! Teachers deliver so much to our students—inspiration, motivation and, ultimately, their futures. From May 8-12, 2017, BISD would like to celebrate our teachers and deliver our thanks and gratitude to them.

Teachers change the lives of millions of children every day, and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom. Join us during Teacher Appreciation Week to thank a teacher for all that they deliver to our children.

How you can help celebrate?

  • Send a thank you card to a special teacher in your life or a teacher of a child in your life.
  • Show your support for the tremendous work teachers do by volunteering in a classroom.
  • Tell us/share with us on Facebook and/or Twitter #BISDPride about a teacher who had an impact on your life.

Facts About National Teacher Appreciation Day
Congress declared March 7, 1980 as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May. The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.  National Teacher Day is an “unofficial” National holiday.
