After extensive review and discussion by a team within the school district, a new evaluation tool was developed. It was unanimously approved during the July BISD Board meeting. The new system was named BTAS, which stands for BISD Teacher Appraisal System.

“Our District of Innovation team identified this as an area where we wanted local control,” stated Superintendent Danny Massey. “Now we have our own appraisal instrument.” Teachers, principals, and administrative staff members worked collaboratively to provide administrators with a quality appraisal tool to evaluate teachers and contribute to the continuous improvement of rigorous classroom instruction. BTAS will be utilized by principals across the district’s 19 campuses for the first time during the upcoming school year.
