What do I have to do to
substitute teach in BISD?
You must:
-
Take the substitute class offered here in our district.
-
Make a reservation with Human Resources to attend
the class here in the district (979-730-7000, Ext. 11410).

Fill out a paraprofessional application.

When you attend the class, bring your
application, a valid driver’s license, a social security card, your high school
diploma and/or college transcript. If you have a GED, bring your certificate
plus proof of 12 college credit hours to go along with your GED.
How much does it cost for the Substitute
Academy?
The class offered at BISD is free of charge. If you take the class at Brazosport
College there is a $82 fee. However, if you have taken the class at Brazosport
College and present us with your substitute certificate, your pay is increased
$5 per day. You will need to contact Brazosport College at 230-3600 for more
information on their substitute class.
Can I substitute every day?
We have an automated system called AESOP. It automatically calls substitutes.
However, over 80% of our positions are filled by substitutes going online or
accessing AESOP over the phone and searching for jobs. The frequency of your
work greatly depends on how proactive you choose to be in seeking substitute
positions.

How do I go about getting a new insurance
card?

You can either call 1-800-683-4856 or visit the website at

How do I process a mail order
prescription?
I can send you the form via campus mail or your campus insurance representative
can give you one.
How would I add my family
to insurance and what are the premium costs?
If there has been a "Family Status Change" just come in to see me and fill out a
new enrollment form to add your dependents and at that time I can explain the
premiums.
When can I drop my dental
insurance?
You must be on the plan for two years before you can drop it.
How many accumulated sick
leave days do I have?
