Payment for Substitute Teaching
Substitute teachers are paid twice a month by check. Any days worked between
the 1st and 15th will be paid on the last working day of that month. Any days
worked between the 16th and 31st will paid on the 15th of the following month.
Teachers working from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. are paid for a full day of teaching
according to the current salary schedule for substitute teachers. Teachers
working less than a full day will be paid for a proportionate part of a day. The
principal or school designee will call you and discuss the length of the working
day and the length of your assignment.
Current Salary Schedule for Substitute Teachers
Intermittent Substitute (Day to day substitute)

Periodic Substitute (10-20 consecutive days in the same assignment)

| Degree (4 year college) with substitute
certificate - $75 per day |
| Degree (4 year college) - $70 per day |
| High School Diploma with substitute
certificate - $70 per day |
| High School Diploma with college hours -
$65 per day |
A periodic substitute must have some college training but may have less than
sixty (60) semester hours of college credit.
Regular Substitute (Exceeding 20 consecutive days in an assignment)
| Degree with valid Texas certificate - $95 per day |
| Degree with Out-of-State certificate - $85 per day |
| Degree with expired Texas certificate - $85 per day |
| Degree (4 year college) with substitute
certificate - $80 per day |

$70 per day |
A regular substitute must have sixty (60) semester hours of college credit. A
regular substitute who serves in excess of thirty (30) days shall be compensated
an additional $10 per day. This additional daily amount will not be retroactive.
It will begin the 31st day.
*Must pass appropriate test (EXCET/TExES) within six months of the first year
of employment as substitute or pay will revert back to degree without
certificate amount.
NOTE: THIS SCHEDULE DOES NOT APPLY TO
EDUCATIONAL/CLERICAL AIDES. The pay rate established
for substitute educational or clerical aides is $6.25 per hour.
