Marlin 2 READING TEAM CHALLENGE Students in 2nd Grade must read and pass tests on the books in the following categories and accumulate 40 AR points. When the challenge has been completed by a student, s/he will receive a Reading Team t-shirt.
AWARD BOOKS (one from each) Texas 2x2 List Caldecott Award Books
GENRES (one of each) Classic Fiction (20 years old or older) Realistic Fiction (stories that could really happen; human characters) Mystery Science Fiction or Fantasy (involve space or magic) Historical Fiction (takes place at a real time in history that is referenced in the story) Fairy Tale Rhyming Story (or poetry) Biography
NON-FICTION (one from 4 of the Dewey Classes below) 000-200 Computer, Information, Feelings, Making Friends, Religion and Myth 300 Families, Careers, Money, Government, Folk and Fairy Tales & More 400 Languages and Grammar & More 500 Math, Animals, Rocks, Plants, Fossils & More 600 Inventions, Machines, Farming, Health & More 700 Crafts, Painting, Music, Games, Sports & More 800 Poetry, Plays & More 900 USA, Other Countries & More
