ACCELERATED READER

Accelerated Reader at Jane Long

The Accelerated Reading Program is a commercially produced computerized reading management program.

	Students are given the computerized STAR reading assessment and the results provide students and teachers with a reading level to aid in book selection.
	Students make their own book selection using their reading level from the Accelerated Reader list.
	Students read the book at their own pace.
	Students take a computerized test to check their comprehension on the book that they read. Each book has a point value based on level of difficulty and length.

Each 9 week period, students have a point goal based on their reading level and an amount of time spent reading each day.
