Jane Long's music programs are off to a great start.

Our students are learning rhythms and are playing rhythm games. They are also learning how to sing using solfege pitches do, re mi, fa, so , la, ti, high do. Our students are learning to use the appropriate hand-signs for each singing pitch.

Our students are also learning about the correct way to breathe for singing, and they are practicing correct breathing when singing their songs.

They also have a music aid, Rodrigo Lopez who is helping in music this year. Mr. Lopez is a college student at Brazosport College and also a former choir student. he is helping to set up keyboards and music equipment for student use. He is also helping students with their singing and rhythms. We are happy to have Mr. Lopez and know the students will enjoy his help with music.

Mrs. Prindle works at Jane Long on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She has been teaching for 21 years in BISD. We share her with Stephen F. Austin Elementary. She teaches Music to all our Kindergarten classes.

Mrs. Prindle loves to teach students to read music and play the recorder to prepare them for Band and/or Orchestra.
