Public Hearing on AEIS
The Board held a public hearing to discuss the 1998-99 Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) Report. Patricia Davenport, Director of Instruction, informed Board members that Brazosports outstanding academic performance, combined with its high attendance and low dropout rates, had once again earned the District an overall rating of "Exemplary" from the State for the 1998-99 school year. The Districts performance was particularly impressive in the Spanish TAAS and Special Education TAAS categories. Board members joined Dr. Anderson in applauding students, teachers, principals, and all staff members for their hard work and dedication to the belief that all children can learn.
Insurance Plan Changes For 2000
Michael Abild, Director of Business Services, reviewed health insurance plan changes for 2000 with Board members. Major changes for 2000 include:
| Increase in PPO and NPPO deductibles to $350/$1,000 | |
| Increase in prescription copayments | |
| Elimination of separate $50 deductible for prescriptions | |
| Change in physician office copaymant to $30 | |
| Increase in PPO and NPPO out-of-pocket maximums to $2,000/$5,000 | |
| Reduction in NPPO copayment to 50% | |
| Addition of M.D. Anderson as PPO hospital | |
