This is the image for the news article titled BISD Principals of the YearEach year Brazosport Independent School District recognizes the leadership, service, and dedication of two campus principals as BISD’s Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year. This year, BISD’s Management Team, consisting of campus and central office administrators, selected Ms. Margaret Meadows from Velasco Elementary School as BISD’s Elementary Principal of the Year and Ms. Rita Pintavalle from Brazoswood High School as BISD’s Secondary Principal of the Year.

Margaret Meadows
Margaret Meadows is in her 20th year in education and her 11th as an administrator.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Relationships from The University of Texas and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston Clear Lake.  Margaret taught early elementary for 9 years before becoming an administrator.  Meadows came to BISD in 2015 as the principal of Jane Long Elementary and joined Velasco Elementary when Jane Long closed in 2017.  She is a member of Texas Elementary Principals Association, ASCD, and Raise Your Hand Texas Harvard Leadership Symposium.

Margaret is married to Harland Hoppock, an Assistant Principal at Lake Jackson Intermediate.  They have a blended family of 4 kids and their youngest is a Junior at Brazoswood.

Rita Pintavalle
Rita Elrod Pintavalle grew up in Kennedale,TX and graduated from Baylor University with a BSEd. For 10 years she taught English, Sociology and Psychology in the classroom as well as coached volleyball and softball being named Softball Coach of the Year in district play 7 times before moving into administration. Pintavalle earned her Master of Education from the University of North Texas. She has served as an assistant principal and principal, coming to Brazosport ISD in 2015 as the Principal of Brazoswood High School. Mrs. Pintavalle has served on the TASSP Executive Board from 2011- 2017 where she was President of the statewide organization as well as the State coordinator, representing the group twice in Washington DC for Educational Advocacy Sessions.

Rita is married to Joe Pintavalle, currently working at Polk Elementary. The  Pintavalles have 4 children; daughter Carson is a senior at Stephen F Austin University pursuing a BS in Health Science, daughter Lauren is a pediatric oncology nurse, daughter Brianne works with OB GYN patients and son Joey works in the flooring industry.

Mrs. Pintavalle is thrilled to be in Brazosport ISD and wants everyone to remember ‘It’s a Great year to be a Buccaneer.”

BISD’s Principals of the Year, Meadows and Pintavalle, will be honored at Region IV’s Award Ceremony later this spring along with other administrators from around the greater Houston area.
