BISD Community,

Safety and security is the top priority in Brazosport ISD. We understand the responsibility placed in our hands every day. Please know that we take that responsibility very seriously. We want to make you aware of safety and security measures we have in place or have already started for implementation over the summer.

Below is an overview of some measures currently in place:

  • Eleven highly trained and armed police officers
  • Security Specialists
  • Behavior Specialists
  • Mentoring Programs
  • Case Managers/Social Workers
  • Bully Prevention and Response
  • Hotline Phone Number 979.730.SAFE and Online Reporting Mechanisms
  • Visitor Management System
  • Security Vestibules at Most Campuses
  • Fencing
  • Security Cameras District-wide
  • K-9 Drug Dog
  • Weapon Sniffing Dog
  • Crisis Management Plans
  • Emergency Operations Plans
  • Emergency Drills
  • Practiced More Intruder, Lockdown, Evacuation and Reunification Drills
  • Additional Staff Intruder Trainings
  • Excellent Relationships with Local Police Agencies
  • Completion of Intruder Audit
  • Annual Safety and Security Audits
  • Police and SWAT Agencies Participated in Active Shooter Training on Campus

  • Additional Security Specialists to monitor security cameras to use proactively
  • 5 Mental Health Officers Added at All Secondary Campuses in March 2018
  • More Security Vestibules and/or Outside Door Buzz-In Systems
  • Additional Fencing
  • Upgraded Visitor Management System
  • Standardized Method of Locking Classroom Doors
  • Portable Metal Detectors
  • Increased Training and Drills
  • Meet Regularly with Local Police Agencies
  • Promote Reporting Mechanisms: “Report It, Don’t Ignore It
  • Student Alert System
  • More Active Shooter Trainings on Campuses
  • Additional Social and Emotional Supports
  • Social Media Monitoring Company
  • Decrease Campus Entrances
  • Limit Access to Parking Lots
  • Increase Mentoring Programs
  • Standardized Dress for Secondary Students and Staff (being evaluated for consideration)
