Brazoswood FFA Shooting Sports Team are State Champions

The event was held June 3-5, 2018 at the National Shooting Sports Complex in San Antonio, Texas and was hosted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife in conjunction with the Texas State Rifle Association.
 
The Brazoswood FFA Chapter was one of numerous chapters that participated in the competition in order to enhance the Ecology Management portion of the Wildlife and Ecology Management course taught at Brazoswood High School. This contest develops personal skills that may be carried on throughout a lifetime of enjoyment of the outdoors. Student participants also practice and apply teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, while representing their chapters to the best of their ability.
 
This year marked a record-win for Brazoswood, being the most banners earned in a single year. The State Champion All-Female Clays Team is comprised of Brynlee Batchelor, Kinsey Camacho, Ashlynn Cartmill, and Reese Dingee, The All-Female Trap Team, comprised of Brynlee Batchelor, Kinsey Camacho, Ashlynn Cartmill, and Cortney Neal, placed second overall. The All-Male Trap Team placed 3rd overall and is comprised of Cody Gartmann, Hunter Jordan, Blake Matzke, and Chris Ryder. The Mixed Gender Trap Team placed fourth in the state and is comprised of Kinsey Camacho, Ashlynn Cartmill, Cody Gartmann, and Chris Ryder. The Mixed Gender Clays Team, comprised of Kinsey Camacho, Ashlynn Cartmill, Hunter Jordan, and Matthew McCabe, rounded out the Brazoswood FFA Shooting Sports Team competition with 5th place overall. Individually, Kinsey Camacho was the 4th place overall female shooter and Hunter Jordan was the 6th place overall male shooter.
 
Today, the Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with more than 120,000 members. The organization continues to help the next generation rise to meet challenges by helping members develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways. We are still the Future Farmers of America. But we are also the Future Biologists, Chemists, Veterinarians, Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America.
