Title
I is a federally-funded program that provides teachers
and materials for disadvantaged students. T. W. Ogg has
Title I teachers and aides who work with children to help
them improve their reading. Our goal is for these
children to be reading on grade level. In Kindergarten, our Title I teachers and aides work with students in the classroom and in small groups. One special thing we are doing is Interactive Writing, where the classroom teachers and the Title I teacher team teach to do Interactive Writing lessons. The children are learning so much about letters, words, reading, and writing. |
Small groups of kindergarteners and first graders from each classroom come to the Title I resource room to read and write every day in Literacy Groups. These students work with letters and words, read familiar books, reassemble cut-up stories, write a story during interactive writing, and read a new book.
Reading is so important to daily life, and the most important thing parents can do for their young children to help them be successful in school is to READ to them. Try it, parents! You'll really enjoy the time you spend with your children.
