Brazosport ISD implemented a district-wide
Internet filtering program called
Bess SmartFilter. Filtering software blocks inappropriate
websites on the Internet from entering our network.
Since the initial implementation of the Internet in BISD, the
district has depended upon the Acceptable Users Agreement to ensure appropriate use.
Staff and students who use the Internet must have a signed Acceptable Use
Agreement (AUA) on file. In addition,
any students using the Internet under teacher supervision will continue to be
monitored. No Internet filter is 100% guaranteed to restrict access to
inappropriate content. However, we believe this proactive approach to Internet
filtering will significantly reduce the opportunity to inadvertently reach an
inappropriate site and bring comfort to teachers using the web in their
instructional activities.
For more information on the
Bess SmartFilter service, you may contact Diane White or Amber Casey
or visit the Bess homepage.
