Network
Services
BISD is currently providing Internet access for our students,
teachers, and administrative employees through The Texas Higher
Education Network (TheNet).
The District currently manages and supports:
an electronic mail system (Microsoft Exchange), |
Library system (The
Library Corporation’s Library Solution), |
Student Management System (WinSchool), |
Business Applications (AS400/CIMS), |
Intranet/Internet Servers
and |
several Microsoft Print Servers. |
All campuses currently have:
two Category 5 UTP data cables to
each classroom, |
one or more labs containing 20-30 data cables, |
10-20 data drops in the Library, and |
at least one data cable for each office employee for
connection of Apple Macintosh and/or Microsoft Windows
personal computers to the campus local area network (LAN).
The Administration Center has at least one data cable per
employee and is the location for ALL Network Services and
Support. The LAN’s at each campus and the Administration Center
are joined together via the ATM network to form the District
wide area network (WAN).
The
Brazosport Independent School District’s 20 campuses and
Administration Center are linked together via a TCI supplied
standards-based single protocol solution, designed around
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) technologies and will operate
at 155Mbps. The network provides a family of standard interfaces
and provides the flexibility and bandwidth needed to evolve as
BISD’s voice, video and data requirements change over time. |
