This is the image for the news article titled BISD Principals of the YearEach year Brazosport Independent School District recognizes the leadership, service, and dedication of two campus principals as BISD’s Elementary and Secondary Principals of the Year. This year, BISD’s Management Team, consisting of campus and central office administrators, selected Mrs. Tara Fulton from Gladys Polk Elementary School as BISD’s Elementary Principal of the Year and Mr. Richard Yoes from Brazosport High School as BISD’s Secondary Principal of the Year.

Tara Fulton served as assistant principal at Polk Elementary before becoming its principal in 2014. Fulton was raised in Houston and graduated from J. Frank Dobie High School in Pasadena. She received her Bachelor degree from the University of Houston and her Master of Science in Educational Management from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. Her career in education began as a teacher at Jane Long Elementary in Freeport, where she was selected as Brazosport ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2007. Then serving as assistant principal at Polk, Tara was named BISD’s Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013 and Principal of the year in 2016. Mrs. Fulton is proud to be a Polk Panda and loves serving the students, staff, and community of Polk Elementary and Brazosport ISD.

Richard Yoes, Brazosport High School Principal
Richard Yoes

Mr. Richard Yoes took the lead at Brazosport High School in 2017 after serving as principal of R. O’Hara Lanier Middle School. Yoes has extensive experience in supporting K-12 math in Middle, Intermediate and High School, along with advanced technology and STEM training. Mr. Yoes earned his Bachelor of Arts and his Masters of Education from the University of Houston. Yoes feels called to work with students that need him the most, and that led him to R. O’Hara Lanier Middle School and then Brazosport High School where he is honored to pilot the Brazosport Exporters into a bright future.  Mr. Yoes believes that all students can be successful, “every child, every class, every day.” With a background in STEM education and school improvement, Yoes is very excited about the great things happening on his campus as well as in all BISD schools. Yoes was also named BISD’s Principal of the Year in  2017.

BISD’s Principals of the Year, Fulton and Yoes, will be honored at Region IV’s Award Ceremony later this spring along with other administrators from around the greater Houston area.
