With over 300 students competing at the Business Professionals Association (BPA) Regional leadership conference at Hargrave High School on Saturday, January 12, both Brazosport and Brazoswood had students finish with top honors.

Brazosport Junior LeShe’Neal presided over the event as Regional 4 President and will also represent the region as the outgoing president at the State Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas March 6-9.

All four Brazosport students placed in their individual and team events.

  • Senior, Isabel Garcia, placed 1st in Graphic Design Promotion
  • Neal placed 2nd in Prepared Speech
  • Senior Rito Carrizales, placed 4th in Payroll Accounting
  • Senior, Joshua Bell, placed 5th in Banking and Finance

Garcia, Neal, and Carrizales all are state qualifiers and Bell is a first alternate.

The Administrative Support Team of Bell, Carrizales and Garcia also placed 3rd in their event, where they will be an alternate for state competition as well.

Representing Brazoswood at the Area V, Region 4 BPA Conference were:

  • Megan, Nayeli and Priscilla placing first with their Presentation Management Team Competition and earned a spot in the State Competition.
  • Nate, Barron, and Nicole are state alternates with their Small Business Management Team event
  • Priscilla placed as a state alternate for personal financial management
  • Megan placed as a state alternate for individual presentation management
  • Zackary Ford placed 7th in Word Processing
  • Nicole placed as a state alternate for intermediate word processing
  • Nate Rodriguez placed as a state alternate for Entrepreneurship

Students competing at state could potentially compete in the National Competition May 1-5 in Anaheim, CA.
