This scholarship will provide her an opportunity to attend Solution Tree’s Women in Education Institute in San Antonio, Texas, July 8-10, 2019 with full accommodations and travel.

Tara and her staff lead Polk Elementary, which has been designated a National Model for Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for the past two years. For a school to receive this honor, they must demonstrate a commitment to the PLC concepts, present clear evidence of improved student learning, and provide evidence for building  teacher capacity as members of high performing collaborative teams that focus on improved learning for all students.

The Rebecca Burnette DuFour Scholarship, sponsored by Solution Tree, an educational publisher and professional development provider, celebrates and honors female educators who demonstrate exceptional leadership in their school community. This scholarship was established in 2018 to honor the life of Rebecca Burnette DuFour and to continue her legacy of leadership and service in education. Across the country, 10 female educators were  awarded these scholarships based on an intensive application process and interview. Preference was given to applicants who demonstrate the highest level of commitment and benefit to the field and/or currently hold a leadership role within their team.
