This is the image for the news article titled Stallberg Places 2nd at National Basketball ChampionshipsCongratulations to Brazoswood Junior Dustin Stallberg!  He competed with the wheelchair basketball team “Hotwheels” at the National Championships in Chicago and placed 2nd in the nation.

Dustin plays on a team run by TIRR Memoring Hermann Adaptive Sports which was developed to give athletes with all types of disabilities an outlet to continue playing sports both competitively and through intramural programs, including: Basketball, Rugby, Hand Cycling and Ultimate Frisbee.

TIRR Memorial Hermann Junior Hotwheels Wheelchair Basketball team was founded in 1997, first competing in the 1997-98 basketball season with only five players. As the seasons have continued they have had over 75 wheelchair athletes participate on the Hotwheels basketball team.

According to the TIRR team roster webpage, Justin loves the competitiveness of basketball and when asked what he likes best about being of the team he reflected on communicating as a team and having a second family.

What a fantastic accomplishment in a national event. Thank you Dustin for inspiring all of us. We are proud of you.
