Making its way through the news media recently is a story that is not necessarily new, but has reared its head again in a new way. An online challenge targeting children and young adults called the “Momo Challenge” is creating concern across the globe by encouraging negative behavior. Momo is a social media account that can be found on Facebook, YouTube, Whatsapp and others.

Brazosport ISD is sending this email to make you aware of this challenge and to take this opportunity to bring to light the importance of monitoring your child’s online activity.

We encourage parents to:

  • Educate yourself on what your child can access online and check their devices (phone, iPod, computer) regularly
  • Take social media seriously, do not downplay its power in our kids’ lives
  • Ensure your child understands the importance of not giving personal information to anyone they do not know
  • Use parental controls to keep your child safe
