This is the image for the news article titled BISD Students Design and Prepare to Launch Mile High RocketStudents from Brazoswood and Brazosport high schools will join others from across New Mexico and Texas to launch the rockets they designed in their Rockets 1- Scientific Research and Design classes this school year to one-mile high and beyond the speed of sound.

This launch project is part of SystemsGo Rockets 2019, a STEM program designed for students to learn 21st Century workplace skills in a project-based program where they design, build, and launch rockets.

All launches are open to the public and free. Launch location information is provided below. Passes can be obtained online in advance and at the entrance. All attendees will be required to sign a waiver at the launch site for access. Launches will be streamed live online, weather and internet access permitting. Southeast Texas/Smith Point: Thursday, May 9–Saturday, May 11, 2019
Brazoswood and Brazosport rockets will launch Friday, May 10

The SystemsGo program started in Fredericksburg High School in 1996 under the direction of teacher Brett Williams. The innovative science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum uses inquisitive learning based on a problem and project-based model to invoke and stimulate skills in design, development, testing, analysis, and innovation.
