Brazosport High School welcomes its new head varsity baseball coach, Chris Nabors, to the Anchor Nation. A 2001 BISD graduate, Nabors began his teaching and coaching career after playing college ball for Laredo Junior College and Texas A&M Kingsville, as a pitcher.
Nabors joins the Exporters after serving as an assistant coach for 13 years at Brazoswood, helping that program go to the playoffs 9 of those seasons, including the 2011 State Championship. Nabors will now take over the successful Brazosport baseball program from Coach Ken Schulte, who will be moving into another role in the district.
“Brazosport High School is proud to have Coach Chris Nabors as the head baseball coach,” said Athletic Director Alan Weddell. “Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to the Exporter baseball program.”
While Coach Nabors is looking forward to the challenge of continuing to build an outstanding program, he also shared that he would strive to be a positive role model in which his players could rely upon for guidance, instruction, and leadership qualities. “Throughout my career, I have had many people mentor and support me through the process of trying to achieve my goals, to continue to grow, and to become a head baseball coach,” stated Nabors. “I hope to be that mentor for the young men that I have the opportunity to coach at Brazosport High School.”
In addition to his position at Brazoswood as a coach and teacher, Nabors has also served as a 7th grade science teacher & department head, as an 8th grade history teacher and football coach at Lake Jackson Intermediate School.
Coach Nabors is married to Jennifer, a BISD principal, for 10 years and they have one son, Evan, an elementary student in BISD.
