This year, Jennifer Nabors from O.M. Roberts Elementary School was selected as BISD’s Elementary Principal of the Year and Ian White from Freeport Intermediate School was named BISD’s Secondary Principal of the Year.

Jennifer Nabors, born and raised in Brazoria County, received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Texas State University, her teaching certificate from University of Houston- Clear Lake. Mrs. Nabors earned her Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Lamar University in 2011. 

After starting her career teaching in Alvin, Jennifer Nabors joined Brazosport ISD as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Lake Jackson Intermediate in 2008. Nabors was selected as the Assistant Principal. Of A.P. Beutel Elementary in 2012. Then, in June of 2017, Jennifer was promoted to Principal at O.M. Roberts Elementary.

Jennifer and her husband Chris, a teacher and coach at Brazoswood High School, live in BISD with their son Evan.


Ian White Secondary Principal of the Year
Ian White
Ian White was appointed as Principal at Freeport Intermediate in May of 2018. Prior to this assignment, he was the Assistant Principal at FIS for 4 years and a math teacher and coach at Brazosport High School for two years. Before joining the BISD family, Ian spent 12 years in various educational settings throughout the state of Texas. During those 12 years, he taught and coached in Dallas, Tenaha, Royal, and Carthage Independent School Districts. Additionally, Ian was a Plant Operations Director for two years at Tenaha ISD. During his coaching career, he was fortunate enough to win State Championships in Football, Track, and Power-lifting and was a part of several other successful programs.

Ian received his Bachelors of Science degree from Harding University in May of 2000 while on a football scholarship where he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Math. In 2011, he received his Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Educational Leadership. Of a family of seven, he was the first to graduate from college and ultimately receive a Master’s degree.

Ian is married to Lekay White, his college sweetheart. Lekay, also a member of the BISD family, is a special education teacher at Brazosport High School. Ian and Lekay have two children; Ethan and Avery. Both children attend schools in BISD.


BISD’s Principals of the Year, Nabors and White, will be honored at Region IV’s Award Ceremony later this spring along with other administrators from around the greater Houston area.
