Emerson Montgomery, a 4th grade student at Bess Brannen Elementary, has advanced to the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee to be held in Houston February 29, 2020. The second place winner, Dominick Trostle, 8th grader from Lake Jackson Intermediate will serve as an alternate.
Fifteen schools from the county gathered Friday, January 31 at the Center for Arts & Sciences to compete for the privilege of advancing to the next level of competition. It took 11 rounds before a winner was named.
The top 2 spellers of the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee will complete at the 93rd Scripps National Spelling Bee May 24-29, 2020 in Washington, D.C.
