Ogg Elementary school will open its doors to students and staff on August 14, 2019. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.

Ogg is the third of five replacement elementary schools from the 2014 Bond. “We are very excited to have a new state of the art campus for our Ogg students and staff,” said BISD Superintendent Danny Massey.

The campus is a two-story replacement elementary on the current school site designed to accommodate the varied learning styles of students as well as incorporate safety and security features such as a secure entrance vestibule, electronic door locks and security fencing.

Organized around a centrally located media center, the campus has connected green spaces to promote outdoor learning. The design provides extensive natural light in each classroom, utilizes collaboration spaces, a wet lab, and a STEM lab to help stimulate student creativity and critical thinking skills. Outdoor play areas are located near each wing of the building, and a bus loop is near the multipurpose gym and cafeteria. The design also features a quarter mile long walking path on the north side of the facility. Two elevators and a centrally located stairway provide access to the second floor of the school.

The campus offers full day pre-kindergarten and has flexibility of spaces to respond to the needs of students today and for decades to come. This campus is designed to accommodate up to 750 students and serves grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grade.

The original Ogg Elementary School opened in 1957 and was named after the BISD’s first official superintendent, Terrell W. Ogg, who followed two acting superintendents. Ogg began his superintendency in 1946 and retired in May of 1957. Two months after his retirement, the original building opened its doors to students and was named T.W. Ogg Elementary.

“This new school will celebrate the lasting legacy of all current and former Ogg Elementary students and staff as well as its namesake, Superintendent Terrell W. Ogg,” stated Massey.
