Brazosport Independent School District welcomes Mark Bailey as the newest Choir Director for Brazoswood High School.
Bailey comes to the district with over eleven years in music education. His most recent position was as the Head of Fine Arts in Kuwait at The American School of Kuwait. He has also led music programs at both public and private schools in the Houston area where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2015, and received consistent UIL Sweepstakes ratings and Tommy Tune Award nominations. He has also had students gain membership in Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State ensembles. Bailey’s research on poverty and student success was published in TMEA’s research journal in 2018.
Mark has the leadership experience to build on the already strong choir program established at Brazoswood. “As the Choir Director for Brazoswood High School, my primary goal is to build up, support, and serve my students and colleagues, through high expectations, energetic and effective rehearsals, and standards-based high expectations,” Mark Bailey stated in a written statement. “Throughout my career
and using rigorous academic standards, modeling, and energetic teaching, I have worked to
create thriving music programs, where my students are seen as leaders and professionals inside
and outside of the classroom.”
