Brazosport ISD is launching a new program,
Grow Our Own that gives existing BISD paraprofessionals the opportunity to obtain a teaching certificate through two different pathways. The first pathway is available to those who have completed 60 college credit hours and want to obtain a teaching certificate by completing their Bachelor’s degree. We have partnered with the University of Houston- Clear Lake to give our paraprofessionals a chance to complete their degree with a portion of tuition funded by BISD. The second pathway available is through Web Centric, another partner in the
Grow Our Own program. Web Centric will provide the courses, study material and other resources required to obtain a teaching certificate, funded by BISD.
Chief of Human Resources, Kristi Kirschner, commented on the program, “We are excited to launch this program and provide support to our own staff who is eager to grow with us! At BISD we believe in the importance of professional development and this program will create an opportunity for our dedicated paraprofessional staff to earn their teaching certificate and continue their careers within our community.”
For those BISD employees who are interested in participating in the BISD
Grow Our Own program, please access the guide and application form on the BISD Connect HR department site. We are accepting all applications through July 8, 2019. If you have further questions, please contact Teresa Rios at 979-730-7000.
