BISD educator and administrator Ian White has been named to take the helm as the new Brazosport High School principal. White has been with Brazosport ISD for 8 years, most recently serving as principal at Freeport Intermediate School.
During Mr. White’s principalship, Freeport Intermediate School was named a
National School To Watch, an International Model Professional Learning Communities Campus, and a Capturing Kids Heart National Showcase Campus. With his leadership at FIS, the campus has continued to strive for excellence, earning six Texas Education Agency Distinctions this past school year.
Superintendent Danny Massey said, “Ian White is a natural leader. He brings energy to everything he is involved in, positively affecting everyone around him. I am confident that Brazosport High School will continue to be a great place for students to learn at high levels.”
Prior to serving as the FIS principal, White was the Assistant Principal there for four years and a math teacher and coach at Brazosport High School.
“Brazosport High School has a rich tradition of successful academic, athletic, fine arts and career programs,” said White. “I’m excited to head back to Brazosport, to work with the outstanding Exporter staff and students as their principal.”
Before joining the BISD family, Ian spent 12 years in various educational settings throughout the state of Texas. During those years, he taught and coached in Dallas, Tenaha, Royal, and Carthage.
Ian received his Bachelors of Science degree from Harding University in May of 2000 while on a football scholarship, where he graduated with a degree in kinesiology and a minor in math. In 2011, he received his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University. White was the first one in his family to graduate from college and ultimately receive a Master’s degree.
White replaces Richard Yoes who was recently promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Professional Learning.
Ian is married to his wife Lekay, who is also a member of the BISD family, serving as a special education teacher. Ian and Lekay have two children; Ethan and Avery, and both children attend BISD schools.
