Today, BISD is excited to announce that BASF is the latest to join BISD’s campaign with an investment of $1 million dollars.

BASF, a longtime supporter of BISD and CTE, contributed this amount with the intent of helping expand educational opportunities and pathways while building upon educational offerings already in place at BISD.

The vision of Brazosport ISD is Setting the Standard for Educational Excellence. It is with great pleasure to announce that this generous investment from BASF, Brazosport ISD has now exceeded the campaign goal of $5 million. Every dollar invested from this campaign will enable Brazosport ISD CTE Programs to set the standard today and for years to come.

“The mission of Brazosport ISD is to graduate each student to be future-ready and it is our belief that partnerships are vital to strengthening learning experiences for our students. Through these partnerships with local industries and businesses, we have the opportunity to understand workforce demands to ensure we are graduating students with skills needed for high wage and high demand areas,” said Superintendent Danny Massey.

With new CTE facilities funded by the voter-approved 2019 bond program, BISD can now expand and implement course and pathway offerings at a greater level. Areas of course expansion include STEM (Engineering and Cybersecurity), Health Science (EMT, Pharmacy Tech, Dental Assistant), Architecture & Construction (Expanding Construction), Information Technology, Manufacturing (Expanding Welding Opportunities), Cosmetology and Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources (Veterinary Technician). The new CTE Center at Brazoswood High School is 91,000 square feet with plans in place for a major renovation at Brazosport High School in 2023.

With CTE courses, pathways, and interest increasing through the last few years, BASF has been at the forefront of expanding CTE in numerous ways along with other industry leaders in our area. BASF leadership is currently involved heavily with the Brazoria County Petrochemical Council (BCPC) Signing Day and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Industrial Craft Competition. Both programs BISD students and staff are involved with.

“BASF and other members of our industry lobbied for years to see this dream come true,” said Chris Witte, SVP and Freeport Site General Manager, BASF Corporation. “When doing so, we recognized that our dream of offering technical and vocational education pathways through our local schools would require helping ensure the students who choose that path have the facilities and tools they need to prepare to enter today’s technical workforce. The new CTE Center at Brazoswood and the refurbished CTE Center at Brazosport will do just that, and I’m personally proud that BASF is able to do our part in helping tomorrow’s workforce get the training and education they need today.”

“BASF is an amazing partner and investor to work with. With this investment, BISD is able to reach our goal of raising 5 million dollars to support our students, staff, and community. Whether partnering with BASF on projects such as the BCPC Career Signing, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Industrial Craft Competition, or BISDs Major Giving Campaign, the support for CTE and developing our future workforce is a top priority for BASF. We are very grateful for their investment and support,” said Resource Development Coordinator Aaron Ennis.

BISD CTE Director, Jessie Jennings, added “We are blessed to have companies such as BASF within our area who recognize the importance of investing in our future workforce. Through these funds, we will continue to not only prepare students for current workforce demands but future needs as well.”

With BASFs community outreach initiatives, the Brazosport area and BISD has continued to expand educational pathways opportunities for countless people. Whether it's through pathways such as STEM, Health Science or Manufacturing, BASF has been one of the leading organizations expanding the current and future workforce.

BASF’s, Making Communities Better statement says, “At BASF, our commitment to a sustainable future includes creating chemistry in the communities in which we live and work. The kind of chemistry that brings people together to work toward a healthy and successful future.”

“BASF believes in working with our community neighbors to help meet their needs because if it helps the community, it helps us. That has never been more true than this partnership with BISD in support of their efforts to provide the right facilities and tools to those students who choose a technical or vocational path in their education,” said Chris Witte, SVP and Freeport Site General Manager, BASF Corporation. “The new CTE Center at Bwood, and the renovation of the CTE Center at Bport provide both the facilities and resources needed to prepare our workforce for tomorrow today, and I’m proud that our company is able to do its part.”
