Family Fun Night Made Possible by Phillips 66

BISD Math Department hosted a family night out centered around spatial-temporal math or ST Math, a visual instructional program that builds a deep conceptual understanding of math through rigorous learning and creative problem solving to engage, motivate, and challenge PK-4th students toward higher achievement.

The event was held the evening of March 22. There was a great turn out with over 75 families attending! Each family was given a ‘South of Sahara’ game box to enjoy at the event, and because of a generous donation from Phillips 66, they were able to take the game box home with them. The box included storybook board games that combine math, history and literacy into a highly connected experience. Through each storybook, families learn and play a math game as they explore real events from the game's country of origin.

Phillips 66 not only funded this ST Math family night but has generously expanded the ST MATH program to pre-kindergarten students throughout Brazosport ISD. Thank you Phillips 66 for helping make this event a fun time for families to learn while getting out and enjoying time together!
