On February 8, students from Clute Intermediate joined nearly 100 students from all over the state of Texas at the Regional Great History Challenge competition at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
Five students from CIS qualified for the National competition that will be held on May 24-26, 2024 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
Students had to compete in three rounds (and one bi-round) of history questions ranging from Ancient Myths to Modern History. The first to buzz in and answer correctly received a point for a max of 10 per round. The students with the highest number of points after all four rounds were invited to Nationals.
Mr. Nickolas Heins, the team's coach said of this group, “I'm overflowing with pride for all my students who were willing to take this opportunity and run with it. They really knocked it out of the park at regionals, and I've got no doubt they're going to shine at Nationals. Win or lose, they’ve all made Clute Intermediate proud!”
