This selection highlights Adkins’ continued dedication to public education advocacy at the local, state, and national levels.

Adkins, who previously served as President and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards, brings a wealth of experience to this role. The Gulf Coast Area Association represents seven counties and 87 school districts, allowing Adkins to lead discussions on key issues affecting the future of public education.

Adkins has long been a dedicated advocate for public schools throughout his 11 years of service on the Brazosport ISD Board of Trustees. In 2019, he participated in the National Advocacy Institute Conference, and in 2024 he participated in the Texas Federal Advocacy Conference where he shared important educational priorities with Congress and the White House. He also serves as an advocacy delegate for the Texas Association of School Boards, working to amplify the voices of Texas school districts.

RYHT’s invitation to Adkins to join the CORE Team underscores his impactful advocacy efforts and knowledge of public education issues. The team’s mission is to develop a robust network of local influencers to support public education and ensure the needs of students and communities are heard during legislative decision-making.

“Mr. Adkins has long been a strong voice for public education,” said BISD Superintendent Danny Massey. “We are proud to have leaders like him who are not only dedicated to our local schools but also advocate for the future of education across the state and nation.”

Adkins has lived in the Brazosport community with his wife, Barbara, for over 50 years. Their three children are proud graduates of Brazosport ISD. Before his retirement, Adkins worked as a Project Manager for Dow Chemical for 42 years.
