Brazosport ISD is happy to recognize two exceptional educators as the April recipients of the BISD Educator Spotlight Award. This award celebrates teachers who go above and beyond—not only in the classroom, but also in their support of colleagues and the overall school community.
This month’s honorees are Kristen Center Brown from Brazos Success Academy and Erica Cray from Lanier Elementary.
Kristen Center Brown teaches U.S. History at Brazos Success Academy. Her campus shared that she exemplifies passion, dedication, and excellence in education. Her love for teaching history is evident in every lesson, and she brings the subject to life in a way that deeply engages and inspires her students. She builds meaningful trust and rapport with each student, creating a classroom environment rooted in respect and connection. She teaches with purpose every single day, making the most of every moment. Dependable, caring, and guided by a strong sense of integrity, she sets high standards not only for her students but for herself as well. She is truly a model educator and a vital part of our campus community.
Erica Cray is a 5th grade science teacher at Lanier Elementary. Her campus shared that she consistently goes above and beyond to make science meaningful and engaging for her students. Her passion for continuous learning is evident, as she seeks opportunities to grow professionally and takes initiative in leading science professional development to support her colleagues. She is a positive force on campus, fostering strong relationships with her students and team members. In addition to her instructional leadership, Mrs. Cray serves as a mentor through her work with Leos and Pearls, providing students with valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills and a heart for service.
