Between preparing delicious meals, meeting high nutrition standards, managing food allergies, and greeting every student with a warm smile, Brazosport ISD's Child Nutrition professionals truly do it all. On Friday, May 2, 2025, our schools will join the nationwide celebration of School Lunch Hero Day to honor the incredible work of these everyday heroes.

From their cheerful greetings in the cafeteria to the love they serve with each tray, our nutrition staff go beyond just serving food. They inspire healthy habits, encourage students to eat more fruits and veggies and create a welcoming environment where every child feels seen and cared for.

Let’s give a HUGE shoutout to the amazing cafeteria teams who keep our students fueled, smiling, and ready to learn. As BISD’s Child Nutrition put it on their recent Facebook post:

"These everyday heroes serve more than just food — they serve kindness, care, and community every single day. From early mornings to the last tray, they make lunchtime the best time!"

School meals follow federal nutrition guidelines, ensuring students have access to low-fat or fat-free milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. These meals are designed to be balanced and nourishing, often providing the most nutritious meal of the day for many students.

Each day, our BISD Child Nutrition staff serve over 11,000 students — and they do it with heart. Please take a moment to thank the dedicated professionals behind the scenes who make a big difference in our schools.
