Brazosport ISD is investing in its future by growing its own teachers. During the annual Teacher Apprenticeship Signing Day on May 20, 2025 and May 21, 2025, the district celebrated four graduating seniors who signed on to begin their careers as teacher apprentices with BISD this fall, taking an important first step toward becoming tomorrow’s classroom leaders.
Two seniors from Brazosport High School, Emily Dohle and Catalina Cisneros; and two from Brazoswood High School, Savannah Yasuda and Anna Marie Sanchez, were recognized during the special event for taking the first step toward a career in education. These dedicated students are the latest additions to the BISD Teacher Apprenticeship Program, an initiative designed to grow the district’s own future educators while addressing the statewide teacher shortage.
Launched in 2022, the program is a collaboration between Brazosport ISD, Brazosport College, and other education partners. It provides high school graduates with on-the-job training, college coursework, and mentorship opportunities to support their journey toward becoming certified teachers. To date,141 apprentices have benefited from the program, helping build a strong pipeline of committed, well-trained educators.
“Brazosport ISD has created an innovative solution to the critical need for teachers,” said Superintendent Danny Massey. “This program not only invests in our own students but also ensures that we have a highly trained and prepared teacher in every classroom.”
As these four seniors prepare to graduate and take on their new roles in BISD classrooms they represent hope and the power of investing in future leaders. Their commitment to serve their community and inspire the next generation reflects the heart of BISD’s mission.
