If you’ve visited Walmart recently, you may have seen some familiar faces from Brazosport ISD. Our school counselors, along with a team of dedicated supporters, have been hard at work shopping to bring joy to close to 300 BISD students this holiday season. This effort is made possible through the generosity of the Natalie Woolsey Toy Drive (NWTD), which has donated funds to support our families.
The process begins long before the shopping trip. BISD school counselors carefully nominate families who may need extra support during the holiday season and cross-reference their lists with other local organizations to ensure no family is overlooked or duplicated. Once the lists are finalized, counselors and volunteers head out to shop for gifts and essentials that help make the holidays brighter for our students.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Natalie Woolsey Toy Drive and the joy it brings to our students each year. Our counselors pour so much care into this process because we know how much these gifts mean to our families” Allison Jasso, BISD Director of Guidance and Counseling shared. “Making sure students feel seen, supported, and remembered during the holidays is the heart of why we do this work.”
Brazosport ISD Superintendent Danny Massey echoed this sentiment, expressing his gratitude for the partnership. “The Natalie Woolsey Toy Drive is an incredible example of what makes our community so special. These donations make sure students and families feel supported and cared for during the holiday season. We are very grateful for the generosity of our community in supporting our students.
Founded in memory of Natalie Woolsey, the toy drive is a non-profit organization with a mission to ensure every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of the holiday season. Over the years, NWTD has partnered with schools and organizations across Brazoria County to provide gifts and essentials to families in need.
