This is the image for the news article titled Aliyah Nelson to Compete at Houston Public Media Spelling Bee Aliyah Nelson, an 8th grade student at Lake Jackson Intermediate School, has advanced to the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee at the Baylor College of Medicine Academy in Houston, which will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019. This was Aliyah’s very first spelling bee and she showed complete poise and excellent spelling skills by winning the LJIS Bee and the Brazoria County Regional Bee. The second place winner, Rylie Kettery, a 4th grader from Lanier Middle School will serve as alternate.

The top two spellers of the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee held during “Bee Week” May 26-31, 2019 in the Washington, D.C. area.
