This is the image for the news article titled Find the Library at Your Place-National Library Week April 19-25Although we may not be able to physically visit our libraries during this time, we would still like to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. National Library Week (April 19 - 25, 2020) is a great time to do this! From free access to books and online resources for families, to library business centers that help support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to all.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and observed in libraries across the country each April. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

Libraries are more than repositories for books and other resources. Often the hearts of their communities, campuses or schools, libraries are deeply committed to the places where their patrons live, work and study.  Libraries are trusted places where everyone in the community can gather to reconnect and reengage with each other to enrich and shape the community and address local issues.

Librarians work with elected officials, small business owners, students and the public at large to discover what their communities needs are and meet them.  Whether through offering e-books and technology classes, materials for English-language learners, programs to support early literacy, librarians listen to the community they serve, and they respond.

Brazosport ISD libraries serve students and families by providing access to print and eBooks, online databases and a variety of information.

Brazosport ISD Librarians/Media Specialists, thank you for all that you do for our district!
