Brazoswood Assistant Band Director Mark Nichols has been named a quarterfinalist for the Music Educator Award. This annual honor is presented by the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum with support from Ford Motor Company Fund. 

Nearly 2,000 initial nominations from across the country were submitted and 216 music teachers from 199 cities made the 2021 Music Educator Award quarterfinal list. According to the Recording Academy website, “The award was established to recognize current educators-kindergarten through college, public and private schools-who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools.”

Martin Montoya, Head Band Director at Brazoswood praising his co-worker said, “Mr. Nichols is an outstanding teacher and so deserving of this recognition. His contributions to our band program have helped continue a long tradition of excellence and we are glad to have him on our team!”
